Vehicles in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
